It was again Clay-Battelle's Hannah Carreon powered away from the field, taking the win by over 0.7 seconds. Union's Colleena Burdock was the only other competitor under 27 seconds.

800 Meter Run
Magnolia picked up a 1-2 finish with Breanna Ritz and Jordan Delaney picking up the only two times under 2:30. St. Marys' Alex Gorrell took the lead at 300 meters and held it through 550 and held on to edge Sherman's Amelia Sebok for 3rd with both coming in under 2:31. The top 6 were under 2:32, while no one else broke 2:34.
RunWV's Current Score: 17 of 24.

Magnolia's Jordan Delaney led the field through the first lap in 1:14. Sherman's Amelia Sebok was in 2nd at 1:16, followed closely by Trinity's Piper McLaughlin with the same time. Tucker's Madison Mullenax was running 4th, also at 1:16. Tyler Consolidated's Amanda Reynolds was in 5th at 1:17. Trinity's Abby Barnett was in 6th at 1:17. The race had tightened after two laps with Delaney still in the lead at 2:41, but with Sebok and McLaughlin crossing with the same time. Preston and Gacek moved up to 4th and 5th, respectively at 5:37.23 and 5:39.22. Barnett fell to 6th in 5:40.43, but was never in any danger as no one else was under 5:49.

After two laps, it was Sebok in first at 2:42 with McLaughlin remaining on her heels at 2:43. Gacek was in 3rd at 2:45. Shields was 14 seconds behind her after 7 laps. All 6 placers return next year.
RunWV's Current Score: 26 of 36.

100 Meter High Hurdles
It was all Clay-Battelle's Hannah Carreon as she took the win by nearly a full second at 14.85. That time stands as the 3rd Best All-Time Class A-AA State Meet Performance. Only Wheeling Central's Lindsey Baker was under 16 seconds among the remainder of the field with her 15.78. Trinity's Presley Jordan just missed the mark at 16.05. One of my predicted placers qualified 3rd, but an injury took her out of the finals.
RunWV's Current Score: 31 of 42.

300 Meter Low Hurdles
Wheeling Central's Lindsey Baker exploded forward at the beginning of the homestretch to open a gap, and then held off Tucker's Kelsey Kyle with both coming in under 47 seconds. Parkersburg Catholic's Alexis Saunders also broke the 48 second barrier.
RunWV's Current Score: 35 of 48.

4x100 Meter Relay
Tyler Consolidated's crew of Macy Long, Ariel Fish, Katelyn Gogan, and Sydney Glover outdueled Wheeling Central by just over 0.4 seconds. Those two were over a second ahead of anyone else.
RunWV's Current Score: 39 of 54.

4x200 Meter Relay
Wheeling Central's foursome of Meghan Porter, Maria Dzmura, Nicolette Nolte, and Lindsey Baker used a really strong back half to squeeze past Tucker in 1:49.17. Tucker finished in 1:49.65. No one else was under 1:51. Madonna and Williamstown were under 1:52.
RunWV's Current Score: 44 of 60.

4x800 Meter Relay
Charleston Catholic opened with a 2:30. It's a little hard to tell the teams on the video. I think Wirt was in 2nd. Trinity was in 3rd. Tucker was in 4th. I think it's Tyler Consolidated in 5th and either Williamstown or Pocahontas in 6th. After two legs, Charleston Catholic had taken control at 5:04. Trinity was in 2nd at 5:09. Tucker was just ahead of Tyler Consolidated for 3rd with both at 5:11. Wirt was in 5th at 5:12. I think it's Pocahontas in 6th at 5:19. After three legs, Charelston Catholic had taken a dominant lead, coming through in 7:34. Tucker had moved into 2nd at 7:46. Trinity was in 3rd at 7:48. Tyler Consolidated was in 4th at 7:49. I think it was Magnolia that had moved into 5th at 7:51. Wirt was in 6th at 7:54. Charleston Catholic held their large lead over the final leg to give the foursome of Lia Preston, Mary Katherine Kay, Jordan Keener, and Payton Mullen the convincing win in 10:07.56. Tucker stretched out their grip on 2nd, finishing at 10:18.68. Tyler Consoliated moved into 3rd on the final leg to finish in 10:23.78. Wirt used a strong final leg to move into 4th, just ahead of Trinity with both finishing in the 10:25's. Magnolia held the final position at 10:30.74.
RunWV's Current Score: 53 of 72.

Shuttle Hurdle Relay
Tucker's squadron of Kelsey Kyle, Elizabeth Nichols, Sydney Nestor, and Olivia Miller took the win by over a second with a 1:07.48. Only Madonna was under 1:10 among the rest of the field with a 1:08.66. 3rd through 6th were all in the 1:10's.
RunWV's Current Score: 57 of 78.

High Jump
Charleston Catholic's Jordan Rothwell was the only jumper to clear 5'4. Valley Wetzel's Rachel Baker, Magnolia's Bailey Estep, and Union's Colleena Burdock each cleared 5'2 in taking the 2nd through 4th positions, respectively. Doddridge's Mista Smarr was the only other jumper to clear 5'0. 9 jumpers cleared four others cleared 4'10. Eight of the nine that cleared 4'10 return next year.
RunWV's Current Score: 61 of 84.

Pole Vault
Williamstown's Ellie Gardner was the only vaulter to clear 9'0 in taking the win. Williamstown's Erica Amos and Doddridge's Chelsey Randolph tied for 2nd at 8'6. No one else cleared higher than 7'6. Only five vaulters cleared the opening height.
RunWV's Current Score: 66 of 90.

Long Jump
In a close contest, the top three spots were decided by just 1" with Tucker's Sydney Moore taking the win at 16'2. Union's Colleena Burdock took the 2nd spot at 16'1.25. Clay-Battelle's Hannah Carreon was denied a 40 point meet just an inch as she took 3rd with a 16'1 leap. Four other jumpers went past 15'0.
RunWV's Current Score: 70 of 96.

Shot Put
Tucker's Aiyana Kachmarek took the event by over 2 1/2 feet with her throw of 36'4.75. St. Marys picked up the next two spots with Whitney Jemison being the only other thrower over 33'0 and Laura Taylor being the only other one over 32'0. Three others topped 31'0.
RunWV's Current Score: 75 of 102.

Discus
Tucker's Aiyana Kachmarek took the narrow win by just 2 inches over Valley Fayette's Abby Buchan with the throws being 113'2 and 113'0, respectively. Those two were over 11' futher than the rest of the field. The Doddridge pair of Paige Phillips and Gabby Glaspell and Williamstown's Rylee Cunningham topped 100' in taking the 3rd through 5th spots, respectively. Just 3'3" separated 3rd from 7th.
RunWV's Current Score: 89 of 108.

The final score of 80 of 108 means that 74.1% of the people picked to place did indeed place. It's certainly not one of my better showings. Congratulations to those that proved me wrong.
